Guest Blog Post: Look Fresh With Pastels This Fall

Well this is an exciting Friday for sure. Two weeks ago one of Hollywood’s most influential trendsetter, Anya Sarra, contacted me about doing a guest blog post. As a new mom, she is transitioning her time and focus more to the online community so that she can spend more time with her adorable son. Well how could I resist such an offer? Of course I was ecstatic to have her share some of her brilliant fashion knowledge with you, my lovely readers. I hope you enjoy this special little Friday treat.- Amber

Pastels don’t have to be a spring-only trend. In fact, pastels have been on the radar since spring and will carry over through fall and winter. If you love pale pastel colors, you’re in luck! Here are a few fun ways to make the pastel trend work for you this fall!

fall pastel #1
1.  Cable-knit sweater  at Outnet 2. Kendra Scott cuff at Kendra Scott 3. Geometric Scarf at Calypsostbarth 4. Kendra Scott earrings at Kendra Scott 5. Mint Green Shoes at Nelly

Pairing pastels with darker colors is a great way to add a trend to your style without overwhelming it. Pair a chunky blush sweater with a navy blue pencil skirt with silver tights for a stylish fall look. Add pastel touches to a gray ensemble by wearing light-colored scarves, bracelets or necklaces. Pair some light teal women’s shoes with cobalt denim and a teal top for an almost-monochromatic look that’s fun and fresh.

pastel fall #2
1. Banner Top at Modcloth 2. Tory Burch Cuff at Neiman Marcus  3. Yellow Skinny Jeans at Barneys 4. Tory Burch Flats at Matches

Stay stylish as the weather turns colder by pairing pastel denim with bolder brighter colors on top. Light blue denim looks great with canary yellow or lime green. Pair light yellow jeans with a silk cobalt blouse for a contrasting look that isn’t too serious. Make the whole ensemble office-ready with a pair of fantastic leather shoes and a leather cuff.

pastel fall 3
1. Blush Dress at Modcloth 2. Leather Jacket at Topshop 3. Black Tights at Zara 4. Black Booties at Topshop

Pastel looks fantastic paired with black. It’s a modern, edgy take on the pastel trend that’s sweet and dark at the same time. Pair a lightweight, breezy blush dress with a studded black leather belt and a pair of booties. Slip into a pair of opaque black tights and a leather jacket to finish off the look. Pair your pastel yellow maxi skirt with a tough black tee and black leather flats for an interesting hard-but-soft style.

pastel fall #4

1. Mauve Scarf at Modcloth 2. Turquoise Necklace at Sosie  3. Michael Kors bag at net-a-porter 4.Mauve polish at Essie 5. Acne fit Mauve Tee at Jades24 6. Steve Madden Oxfords at Macys

You don’t need to do head-to-toe pastel to make the trend work. Pair your pastels with traditional fall colors or choose slightly darker or more saturated colors. Instead of blush, pick mauve. Skip baby blue in favor of turquoise. You’ll still have the spirit of the trend without veering too far into pastel territory. Add touches of forest green or camel brown to your pastel look to add a fall twist on a traditional spring classic.

Dressing well this fall doesn’t have to mean bundling up in all neutrals. Look and feel your best by bringing bright, fresh pastels into your wardrobe. It’s a trend that’s sure to turn heads.

  1. love this post – the color combos are so cute!!! I’ve just spent a solid hour trying to catch up on all the posts I missed while in France! I love the new design :)

    • Do you know that I just tried Essie polish for the first time three weeks ago!! Crazy, right? I have always been an OPI girl, but after trying Essie, I have converted. I love how it goes on and how long it lasts. All of this to say, I’m joining you in being an Essie addict, ha.
